Stunning LS Lowry Art Frame With LS Lowry (1887 to 1976) Limited Edition Bronze Medallion
Description
Lowry is widely regarded as one of the greatest British artists of the 20th Century.
In 1975 to commemorate LS Lowry’s 88th birthday a very special portfolio was produced which featured Lowry’s profile cast in bronze by renowned sculptor Leopold Solomon (1919 to 1976). The edition of 5 inch diameter bronzes within the portfolio were strictly limited to just 300 worldwide. The portfolios and/or bronzes individually are now extremely hard to source due to their scarcity. Making this frame highly collectable.
Each bronze was numbered on an accompanying engraved plaque and presented in a blue presentation box. This prize features a bronze from the limited edition of 300 beautifully mounted in its original presentation box with plaque. Alongside the bronze are two museum quality art prints from King and McGaw (suppliers to the Lowry Museum). Namely “Market Scene, Northern Town” (1939) and “Coming From The Mill” (1930).
Market Scene, Northern Town (1939) depicts Pendlebury Market in Salford that was near to Lowry's home. The large crowd includes people from all walks of life, from families to businessmen, suggesting that Lowry captured the market on a busy Saturday. This print is colour matched to the original painting and approved by The Lowry.
Coming from the Mill (1930) shows workers going home from a factory after the end of their shift. The human figures are painted in Lowry's characteristic style of "matchstick figures", filing out through the factory gates in large numbers. In the foreground, a horse-drawn carriage and a handcart are visible on the street in front of a row of terraced houses, and large cotton mill buildings and factory chimneys loom in the background, above a distant church steeple. This print is colour matched to the original painting and approved by The Lowry.
A fabulous opportunity to own a beautifully framed and collectable piece of British Art by the great artist LS Lowry
